DVEX Shield Privacy Policy
Effective date: October 21, 2026
This policy describes DVEX Shield version 1.0, a Chrome extension provided by DVEX.
Information used on your device
The extension saves your protection setting and allowed website domains in Chrome’s local extension storage. When you open its popup, it reads the active tab’s website hostname to display website controls and asks Chrome for recent matching blocking rules for that tab. The popup displays the number of blocking matches from the last five minutes. This information is processed locally and is not sent to DVEX.
The extension does not store request URLs, page contents, browsing history, passwords, payment information, or a browser-wide blocked-request total. Upgrading from the prototype removes its old aggregate debug counter. Chrome may keep internal request-rule metadata needed to provide its extension APIs; DVEX does not receive that metadata.
No extension analytics or data sharing
DVEX Shield contains no analytics, advertising, account system, or data-upload endpoint. It does not sell, transfer, or share extension user data with DVEX or third parties. It does not download remote executable code. Blocking rules are included in the extension.
Permissions
- declarativeNetRequest: Applies bundled blocking rules, website exceptions, and the toolbar count.
- storage: Saves local protection settings and website exceptions.
- activeTab: Reads the current website and recent rule-match information when you open the extension.
Your controls and retention
You can remove allowed websites in the dashboard, pause protection, or uninstall the extension. Settings remain on your device until you change them or uninstall. DVEX has no server copy to retrieve or delete.
Website links
The product and privacy links open the DVEX website only when you click them. Visiting that website is separate from the extension and may involve normal website cookies and server logs under the site’s website privacy policy.
Limited use
Information made available through Chrome APIs is used only to provide the extension’s disclosed blocking controls and statistics, in accordance with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy and its Limited Use requirements.
Questions and updates
