Free preview download · WordPress plugin · No WordPress.org listing required
What it can do
- Content: read accessible posts and drafts; create and edit posts and pages; publish or schedule through WordPress permissions.
- Organization: manage categories, tags, excerpts, slugs, and existing featured images.
- Existing media: edit attachment titles, captions, descriptions, and alternative text. New file uploads are not supported by this connector version.
- Navigation: manage native WordPress menus where supported, plus the DSS Sports Social navigation override.
- Trash: move existing posts/pages to Trash with the appropriate permission. V0.3.2 refuses the operation when Trash retention is disabled.
Requirements
Self-hosted WordPress 6.2 or newer, PHP 7.4 or newer, HTTPS, administrator access, and a compatible MCP client that supports manually configured public OAuth clients with PKCE S256. Availability depends on your AI client’s features and plan.
Install the plugin
- Download the ZIP above. Leave it zipped.
- In WordPress, open Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
- Select the ZIP, install it, and activate it. Test on staging before using it on a production site.
- Open Settings → DVEX MCP.
Connect your AI client
- Find the exact HTTPS OAuth callback URL supplied by your MCP client.
- Enter that callback in DVEX MCP settings and save the OAuth client.
- Copy the generated client ID into your MCP client. Leave the client secret empty; this connector uses a predefined public client with PKCE S256.
- Use the MCP endpoint displayed in WordPress settings, usually
https://YOUR-SITE/wp-json/dvex/v1/mcp. - Start the connection from your MCP client, sign into WordPress, review the requested scopes, and approve only the access you intend to grant.
- Check the connection, then create and review a draft before publishing.
Access tokens expire after one hour; reconnect when required. Refresh tokens and dynamic client registration are not supported. Saving OAuth settings again rotates the client ID and revokes existing connections. The legacy bridge token under Settings → DVEX Connector is separate and is not needed for MCP setup.
Permissions and privacy
The plugin runs on your own WordPress server. WordPress capability checks and OAuth scopes control access. Your chosen AI client receives the requested site content, including drafts you can access; review that provider’s privacy terms. The package contains no saved site credentials or DVEX telemetry endpoint. Keep passwords and access tokens out of AI chats.
Updating and disconnecting
Back up first. Upload the new ZIP and choose Replace current with uploaded. Do not uninstall the existing plugin first. Deactivating the plugin revokes its OAuth configuration; disabling OAuth in its settings also revokes access.
Preview limits
Content publishing and navigation have been used on the owner’s sites with the earlier build. This V0.3.2 package passed PHP syntax parsing and ZIP checks; live staging integration testing is still required. It has not undergone an independent security audit.
This version does not upload new files, install or update plugins, execute arbitrary code, change arbitrary site settings, or provide SEO-plugin-specific integrations. Broader compatibility testing and simpler setup remain planned improvements.
Build. Test. Improve.
